Patricia Mitchell contacted Hearing Technology after noticing that her hearing seemed to be down. She said

Robert and Judith Linton visited Hearing Technology for a free hearing check. They had both been experiencing difficulty hearing in certain situations, particularly when in the presence of annoying background noise, when people don't face them, or when they attend meetings. The test results revealed a significant hearing loss for both of them which necessitated a full diagnostic hearing assessment. The type of hearing loss they had was suitable for small behind-the-ear hearing devices which were subsequently fitted by their Audiometrist Chris Joseph. They said "what an excellent person Chris is at his job and we wish to commend him for his caring help and understanding" . Judith is in a wheelchair unable to stand with MS, and Rob is not a young man. They are now both very happy active wearers of the latest hearing devices and advocates of Chris and the team at Hearing Technology.

Graham Ranson came to Hearing Technology for a hearing assessment following years of exposure to noise. He worked for thirty years at the freezing works and it was there that he was exposed to excessive noise. "For years I felt that people mumbled, or did not speak clearly enough." It wasn't until his wife encouraged him to have his hearing tested that it was explained to him that although he wasn't 'deaf', his hearing had been extensively damaged, making it very difficult for him to understand what was being said. Mrs Ranson often felt sorry for him, when he would respond inappropriately to conversation that he misunderstood. Mr Ranson applied for assistance through ACC for his hearing loss, and was subsequently fitted with two high quality digital hearing aids. "This", he says, "has changed my life. I can now participate in meetings and feel included in what's going on around me - without frustration and embarassment.
